Building a Multi-Faceted Marketing Program
Presented by Justin Jaworski, Executive Director of the Abilene Industrial Foundation. Justin has over 14 years as an economic development professional. In each role he has served, he has rebuilt each program from the ground up by helping communities make long-term economic development goals and committing to them by implementing an annual program of work which sets direction and establishes priorities. As goals are met, programs are completed, and the activities of the organization become measurable in such a way that communicates value to the communities for whom it serves.
Retail Development as Part of Your Strategy
Presented by Tony Aaron, City Administrator for the City of Early. In his role, Tony establishes, monitors and evaluates progress towards goals and objectives for the City- most recently in the area of economic development where he has played a key role in the attraction and recruitment of retail. In identifying the need and targeting specific companies, the City has enjoyed great success over the past three years. Tony will discuss their work with The Retail Coach, subsequent data gathering and recruitment strategies, and recent successes including the recruitment of Hobby Lobby.
Branding and Promoting Your Community
Presented by Dr. Tim Chandler, Professor of Communication at Hardin-Simmons University. Dr. Chandler’s teaching responsibilities include course work in advertising, speech communication, digital portfolio, media production, and film criticism. His research interests include advertising education, the Texas Forts Trail, and museum exhibit and design. Currently he is finishing his 2017-2018 Sabbatical Project with Fort Belknap on the Texas Forts Trail and spent 2017 working with the Graham Chamber of Commerce and the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation producing videos using drone videography to promote their work. He is currently developing a media archive of photography and video for use across different media platforms and two new websites for the Junction EDC.
The SBDC and How They Can Help You Succeed
Presented by Ken Becker, Executive Director for the Sweetwater MDD and Becky Green, Business Analyst for the Texas Tech SBDC in Abilene. Ken has worked in the economic development industry since 1983 from business owner, to Chamber Executive and Vice President and Training at TSTC and now MDD Executive Director. Ken has also served as TMCN President and on the Boards for TEDC and the High Ground of Texas and currently serves on the Boards for Workforce Solutions, WT Energy Consortium and North Texas SBDC. Becky has been with the SBDC since 2014 and specializes business meeting facilitation, human resource development and employee mediation. Ken and Becky will share their experiences in identifying,vetting and ensuring success of high quality business ventures.
